Samsung launches another phone made of environment-friendly materials.

According to forecasts there will be about 1.3 billion cell phones sold this year, most of these becoming waste material in a couple of years. If we count an average weight of 100 grams then we get 130.000 tons of electronic waste which can be recycled or reused depending on the materials used. Nokia has previously launched their environment-friendly 3110 Evolve handset and have created a number of prototypes, while Samsung has announced their W510 slider in June that has its external case and the battery's case made of biodegradable plastic, based on corn starch.

The E200 Eco phone has a similar corn-based case. This is a repack of the original model in a more environment-friendly case. The 108 x 45 x 9.9 mm large handset, weighing 95 grams has a 176 x 220 pixels large display, a 1.3 megapixel camera, 20 MB internal memory, a microSD slot and stereo Bluetooth support. Samsung E200 Eco, lacking Brominated Flame Retardants, is expected to be launched next month, only in Europe, at an unkown price.
