FORUM PRINCIPLES

Dear Reader!

It is our mission here at MobileArsenal to create a reliable and rapid source of information for anyone interested in mobile phones and anything regarding them. We are struggling to bring you the latest and greatest news and reviews possible in the shortest time. The community spirit is as well an important value and thus we created the forums in order to help a community of professionals evolve and provide a possibility for their members to help each other and share their thoughts. However there is a need to lay down some rules, so that everyone can see what he should or should not do on the forums, thus evading most of the possible conflicts. By forum we understand all of our interfaces where the readers can communicate with each other, thus including threads started after personal entries.

Basic forum principles:

  • the forum is private property and such the primary rules of staying here are outlined in these FORUM PRINCIPLES (which are of course harmonized with legal rules)
  • by registering, respectively by using the registered nickname, the user accepts these FORUM PRINCIPLES
  • anyone can read the forums, whereas posting on them and creation of new threads requires registration
  • the forum is moderated
  • users are responsible for the content of their forum posts
  • users give up their copyright of their forum posts: one may not have no material or other type of claim. Usernames cannot be sold, nor transferred.
  • moderators try to keep the professional level of the forums as high as possible, but Prohardver Ltd. cannot be held responsible for the authenticity and reliability of information contained within, nor for any possible consequences from their use
  • the language of the forum is English

Moderation, the moderator, the editor:

  • the main task of the moderator / editor in the forums (the base of all moderation rules) is to maintain the possibilities, circumstances of normal, humanly and constructive discussions
  • the decisions of a moderator / editor are final and cannot be appealed against
  • the moderators / editors do their job upon the request of MobileArsenal, in accordance with the forum rules, but their opinion in the forums does not necessarily reflect the editorial staff's point of view
  • the moderators' decisions in the forum are equal with each other and with the editors' decisions
  • sanctions from moderators:
    • threads: closing, deleting, moving, title correction
    • posts: deleting, correcting
    • banning users temporarily or definitely
  • what we forbid in the forums:
    • all interventions that negatively affect the appearance of the forum, or hinder it's designated use
    • posts that strikingly disturb civilized discussion; aggressive, vulgar, obscene, inciting posts (this includes nicknames, signatures and other data given by the user)
    • if the post conflicts with the law, encourages violation of the law
    • if the post hurts racial, national, ethnical, sexual, political or other affiliations
    • if the post encourages filtering advertisements on the site
    • "Warez activity", that is, illegal activity regarding any kind of copyrighted (or in general protected by the law) software / data / sound material / movie material:
      • help in its use (e.g. sharing of serial numbers, cracks, linking to websites containing these),
      • encouragement of its use,
      • asking for help in obtaining, usage.
    • flame: avoid posts created only for the sake of quarreling, filled with powerful emotions, lacking any arguments and only loosely connected to the topic, which are more exhibitionist than constructive regarding the community
    • use of more than one registrations: if we observed that you have registered more than one nickname, than all of them will be banned. This is even more enforced if you register a nickname when temporarily banned, since suspending has the aim to give you time to think about what kind of principle(s) have you violated, but then give you the possibility to come back.
    • banning yourself: that is, there is no banning upon request, if you don't want to post from your nickname, then don't do it
    • signatures longer than 3 lines
    • the _excessively_ off topic posts: we are happy together if someone became a father, but don't start a separate thread about chimpanzees
    • excessive UP-ing: don't expect us to answer all your questions _immediately_. 2 UPs a day per thread are allowed!
    • the forum is not a free channel for companies. Our Advertising offer can be accessed here!

Advices:

  • search is your friend. You can find it in the upper left corner. Before starting a new thread look around the appropriate forum, your question might already have been discussed in detail!
  • if you start a thread:
    • avoid too general titles ("Help me plzzzz!!!!!") The title should reflect exactly what you want.
    • it should be something that will be found later on with the search by other users: if you write "My winsuck died with da radedriver", than no one will find that, while the title "My XP won't boot since I installed Catalyst" would be a much better choice
    • don't open a thread for a problem happening once, especially when it has a collective thread. Small threads sink rapidly, moreover there is a small chance that professionals of the subject will observe it. They are generally present, however, in big collective topics. How can you recognize collective threads? They are usually highlighted in red. This is of course not true for all of them, but it is worth reading the 1st post in those that are, as in most cases these contain the most important sites and information relevant for the subject based on previous threads or the actual one.
  • if you post:
    • pay attention to spelling and clear composition. You will get an answer with a much higher probability to a question that is clearly written and divided, than in case of a heap of letters.
    • if within 5 minutes of posting you remember something you want to add, you can do so using the (Edit) button.
    • if you are replying to a post, than do it with the Reply button, thus making the thread searchable. If you want to give 1-2 words long answer to more posts, than do that by collecting them in 1 post.
    • private messages, as their name reflects, are considered private mails. No moderator or editor can see these, so do not post these, not even parts of them, publicly.
    • smileys are for shoving the mood of a sentence. So don't use them as a pattern, decoration or without sense.
    • prefer linking of pictures over embedding, or embed pictures of a small size. The text part of the threads has a fixed width, so it cuts off the margins of large pictures, but those still affect the bandwidth.
